Now They're Cookin': A kitchen remodel that suits an entertaining lifestyle
With a combined 24 years in the University of Missouri-Columbia's Biological Science Department as professor and researcher, husband and wife Tim Holtsford and Cathy Gunther know a thing or two about making discoveries in the world of science. However, it took help from Kerry Bramon Remodeling and Design and its in-house designer Angela Holloway for the couple to rediscover and recreate their own kitchen.
The couple has adored their 1927 bungalow-style residence since they bought it more than nine years ago, but they knew eventually the kitchen and enclosed porch would have to be remodeled.
"We wanted to change the kitchen since we moved in, and we knew the house had great potential," Gunther says.
"We love our location, have good neighbors and quality schools nearby, so relocating was the last thing on our mind."
Holtsford also put the quality of the residence into historical perspective. "The 1920s was a great era for houses," he says, "and the abundance of mature trees and shrubbery is another great feature of older homes."
